Trusting God completely

Daily writing prompt
What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to?

Letting go of the ground and trusting God completely, which means rising to meet Him where He is without fear of falling back to earth. So far, I have succeeded in certain situations, but I look forward to it becoming a constant, like breathing.

The supernatural purpose of rest

Daily writing prompt
Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

You are always doing something, even when you are ‘just’ resting. True laziness implies not working when you should be, or not doing something when you know you should. If you are on holiday and you do nothing but eat, enjoy some hobbies and the company of your loved ones, you cannot be said to be lazy. If however, you have a mountain of dirty dishes waiting to be done, yet you have time to scroll through your phone, laziness has made its home with you.

In Genesis, we see God resting on the 7th day after creation. (Gen 2:3)

In Exodus, we see God command the newly liberated Israelites to keep the Sabbath holy, as a sign of the covenant between God and man. 6 days they were to labour, but on the 7th they were to do absolutely no work. (Ex 35:2-3)

In Numbers, we see God order a man be stoned to death simply for picking up sticks on the Sabbath. (Num 15:32-36)

Your warped idea of work says you must always be doing something work-related, otherwise you are simply not doing enough, not caring enough, or maybe you’re just not the best employee. How often did Jesus retreat from the crowd, either alone or with his disciples? Even your body needs rest, that should tell you something.

Saying no

Daily writing prompt
What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?

It’s ok to say no. They will find another way. It is not your responsibility to oblige each and every request people bring to you. Pray for wisdom and discernment to know when to say yes and when to say no. And when the time comes, let your yes be yes and your no be no, so that men know where they stand with you without ambiguity.
