Thanks for taking the time to check out my site! I hope you have found something useful to take away and help you in your journey with French.

I am Mac, the creator of Comme un pro, and I am thrilled to welcome you to my site, which is dedicated to making the lives of French students everywhere easier. The idea for Comme un pro came about as a result of two main things: my passion for teaching and my love of French. I’ve always wanted to find a way to channel both into something that could be beneficial to others. As I also love grammar and writing, it seemed only logical to undertake a project of this nature, but the medium was very unexpected.

Never in my most vivid dreams did I imagine one day launching a website. I am about as technophobe as they come, so having an online presence like this would ordinarily not be my first choice for a project. Yet here I am, and I must say I am liking it so far!

I have been studying French formally for over a decade, and I recently graduated from UWA with Bachelor of Science majoring in Anatomy and Human biology with a second major in French Studies. Most people look at that combination and go “why French?” My only response is I love grammar and languages, especially French, and the combination of the two to me is magic. As unusual as that may seem, it has always given me a leg up in my studies.

Sadly, I see many despair and give up on their dream of mastering French because grammar intimidates them. That’s a real pity because grammar doesn’t have to be scary! Here I break down concepts in ways you can understand, with key terminology and jargon explained. Examples are specifically designed to broaden your vocabulary and expose you to a range of sentence structures. My principal focus is clarity of expression to facilitate understanding. From distinguishing between penser à and penser de to agreements of the past participle, I cover some of the most common pitfalls in learning French and then some. You’ll be on your way to speaking comme un pro in no time!

As a bonus, I periodically release tips and tricks to improve vocabulary and speaking as well as grammar. I am in the process of launching some initiatives to aid with listening and pronunciation as well.
