No fear

Daily writing prompt: What advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t give fear a foothold in your life. Step out in faith in everything you do, because God really will meet you where you are and take you where you need to be. He really is true to His Word, in my experience, and will truly make your paths straight if you submit to Him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:5-6).

A royal priesthood

Daily writing prompt
Do you see yourself as a leader?

Not in the traditional sense, but in the Biblical sense (see 1 Peter 2:9). I am part of a royal priesthood. The kingdom of God has God as King at its centre, and His children as princes and princesses (royal). We render sacred service to God first and foremost, and then to one another (priesthood). A Biblical leader is in the trenches with you, as God is with us, at great sacrifice and personal cost. That is the sense in which I see myself as a leader.

What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

How much the Father’s heart must be constantly breaking because of how His own children treat Him at times and how the world continually rejects Him. Yet He still pours out His Spirit richly and without reserve, for that is His very nature – to love. Even in His anger and rebuke He is still loving to not destroy those against Him but attempt to rescue them in spite of themselves. Laudate Dominum!
